Two volcanos on the Indonesian island of Java have erupted since last November, both of which we’d planned to visit. We had to change our plans at the last minute, bypassing most of Java as a result. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to be able to visit a smaller volcano not too far from Jakarta called Gunung Papandayan, which happens to be one of the most active in all of Indonesia, last erupting in 2002. Lucky for us it was quiet while we were there.
Also, if you’re interested, check out this video I found on Youtube taken there in 2009.
